School Council

Brunswick North has an active school council where parents and teacher representatives work together to ensure positive outcomes for the school community

All government schools in Victoria have a school council. They are legally formed bodies that set the key direction for the school.

Brunswick North Primary School has a council of twelve members and meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month during the school term.

School council is responsible for developing such things as:
  • the Annual Implementation Plan that sets out the schools goals and key improvement areas for the year
  • the school budget
  • educational policy
  • the physical appearance of the buildings and grounds
  • the Student Code of Conduct which provides a safe and orderly environment for teaching and learning
  • an annual report on the school’s achievements
Elections for parent and teacher representatives are held in March each year.

Parents on council are highly valued and provide important viewpoints that can help shape the direction of the school.

Those parents who become involved say they find the experience very rewarding.
